about

In an enchanted forest, a wanderer stumbles upon a fiber optic cable poking through a patch of dirt. It is green and the dirt is brown. Evidence of an ancient cybernetic highway, rumored to connect the real to the fictive. The wanderer bends down, takes hold of the wire, and pulls it out of the dirt. The wanderer follows the cable and arrives at a wooden door, buzzing with spirits or electricity. Duct Taped to the door is a sign that reads:

CHECKIN’ UP ON CURLY VINCE - by ADUM BRATE
7 rooms - 7 Experiences
Estimated time of completion: 15 minutes
For entrance, confidently declare:
“I am prepared for, and I desire, a quantized life.”

The wanderer obliges-- the wooden door creaks open. The wanderer takes one step forward and their foot falls through the floor. An illusion! Time stops and the wanderer is suspended in a formless void. To the east, a group of machine elves crouch in a circle, shooting skittles like dice. To the west, a velvet-draped goblin somberly plays arias on a harpsichord to a largely uninterested crowd of assorted cryptids. Somewhere else a lonely satyr practices slow dancing with a mannequin, and all around pop and sizzle the recycled data of forgotten characters coming back to life. In the doorway where the wanderer once stood, a dwarf finishes a digital saxophone solo, points the instrument at the wanderer and commands, “Off the Road Tourist!” With that, time resumes and the wanderer tumbles down a set of musical stairs into the rabbit hole of a digital winter...
